STYLING SESSIONS | Three Thanksgiving vintage outfit ideas

PART 1 - An casual yet polished look for the relaxed family feast

Growing up my family Thanksgiving celebrations were large and unformal. Relatives arriving at different times throughout the day with a casserole, gravy or seasonal pie in hand. A lot of catching up, Football on the TV. Dinner was an abundant buffet with dinner plates brought back to the couch, the kitchen table, dining room table, the living room, wherever it worked. Some of us took a walk around the neighborhood, which was always a little damp among the tall evergreens of the Seattle suburbs.

So a look that reads and feels easy, but a little polished, and stylized for the season is in order. For this, some Vintage Levis, a lightweight blazer with some elevated earrings and then a great autumnal overcoat for the outdoors is perfect. Product links below

PART II - A City Dinner Party

I lived my twenties in New York City and Brooklyn and I loved the get togethers at a friend or co workers loft. These events were beautiful, depending on who was hosting and being New Yorkers, we were always intentional about our style. Yet, we were amongst friends and so it was also relaxed, especially a few cocktails in. . For this look I loved the great sweater dress. This Vintage Karl Lagerfeld one with the turtleneck and dolman sleeve is cozy but has the great flare of the mermaid hem. Opted for a fun boot rather than a monochromatic blak to keep it more festive and the gold jewelry, this long Karl Lagerfeld pendant necklace was a great length to catch the gaze of the eye as it looks down toward the boots. This coat too... Perry Ellis from the 1990s in this amazing chocolate color that goes so well with the black and pulls in the colors from the boots.

PART III - A Five Course Chef Tasting

There was the occassional Thanksgiving that I went out to have a fully prepared and incredible Chef prepped menu tasting at a favorite restaurant. I love the idea of Thanksgiving as a date night and really indulging in the food, the ambiance and the wine. For this look, I pulled this incredible converted piano phawl dress that I got from a local estate. It was originally from the 1920s, and made into a dress sometime in the 1970s. Just beautiful and the color so seasonal in the muted, vegetal red. I loved pairing it with gold to match the gold tones and instead of a pump or strappy heel, the suede scrunched boots gave it a really Fall feel, leaning toward the bohemian. The 1980s I Magnin faux fur in the black brown stripe was perfect and of course an amazing golden vintage box clutch.
